ILLUSTRATIVE SOLUTION / NOT A COMPLETED INSTALLATION

Fit the cap.
Check the part. Pack the reel.

A proposed process for connectors or pin headers that need a pick-up cap before tape-and-reel packaging. The objective is consistent orientation, confirmed cap fit and packaging that matches the downstream handling requirement.

A procurement brief this could answer

“We need pick-up caps fitted to our connectors and the assemblies packed in carrier tape. Can you evaluate feeding, cap seating checks and reel packing for several connector variants?”

Proposed process

Feed and orient → Locate connector → Fit cap → Check seating → Load pocket → Seal and reel → Count and label

Begin with cap-to-connector fit and retention. Select feeding and locating methods that protect exposed pins. Evaluate an inspection station for presence, orientation and agreed visible seating features; include separate retention or vacuum pick-up tests where those functions matter.

Match the loaded assembly to the tape pocket, cover tape and seal process. A cap presence check alone does not establish downstream feeder compatibility or ESD performance.

What must be demonstrated

No agreed pin or housing damage, correct cap seating, controlled rejection, pocket orientation, validated sealing and accurate reel counts. Test changeover between the proposed part families.

Information for evaluation

Connector and cap drawings, pitch and pin arrangement, retention requirements, supplied part presentation, carrier-tape dimensions, ESD targets, sealing specification, reel format, quantity per variant and delivery destination.

Practical first step: validate cap fit and a packed sample reel before selecting the complete automation arrangement.

This proposed line combines documented pick-up-cap and tape-and-reel product capabilities; a completed installation or measured line performance is not claimed. Standard product supply follows existing regional distribution arrangements.
