PROJECT ARCHIVE / SILICONE OVERMOLDING
Type-C Connector:
LSR Sealing
A small interface, with tooling, materials and assembly considered together.
The recorded project concerned a mobile-device Type-C interface. The requirement was to integrate LSR injection molding into the component and assembly process and achieve the project’s sealing function.

Project scope recorded in the archive
| Application | Type-C interface for a mobile device. |
| Material combination | LSR, PA66 + 30% glass fiber and stainless components with copper/gold-related surface plating described in the project record. |
| Design input | Customer-provided 2D and 3D drawings. |
| Process | LSR overmolding, tooling-surface polishing, component integration and assembly/process development. |
| Recorded accuracy | ±0.03 mm for the part and ±0.0015 mm for the mold. The archive does not supply a complete feature-level measurement report. |
| Recorded outcome | The presentation states that the assembly and sealing requirements were met and the tooling and equipment were delivered. |
Why it is relevant
The project illustrates the need to connect substrate material, local silicone geometry, tool location and final assembly. A small sealing region is not an isolated silicone part: its function depends on the surrounding components and the agreed verification. The case supports a discussion of an integrated development route.
What this case does not establish
No IP protection rating, universal minimum shot or part weight, current production capacity, general yield or certification is asserted here. The archived accuracy entries describe this project’s part and mold separately. A new interface requires its own drawing review, material approval and functional acceptance.
Start with your interface
Send the finished-part and substrate drawings, material and plating information, silicone requirement, sealing surfaces, quantity and target test. We can then define whether the next step is an interface trial, new LSR tooling, sample molding or production-process integration.
