NEW TOOLING / MAINTENANCE / ENGINEERING CHANGE

Custom & Replacement Mold Inserts

Replace a worn detail, introduce a design change or manufacture a complete insert set without losing control of the parent-tool fit.

Three different reasons to order an insert

New tooling: local cores, cavity details, shut-offs and other replaceable forming features manufactured to the approved mold design. Maintenance: replacement of worn, damaged or corroded components against the required original geometry. Product changes: new forming details that create an approved product revision while respecting the remaining tool, its movement and its processing conditions.

Control the mating information

Provide the insert drawing and the relevant parent-tool assembly, not just the external dimensions of the insert. We review locating faces, fastening, fitting allowances, shut-offs, parting surfaces, cooling and neighboring components. Identify surfaces that must arrive fully finished and those intentionally left for final fitting. A photograph helps explain the request but cannot establish an unknown interference, clearance or datum relationship.

IdentificationMold number, cavity or insert number, drawing revision, quantity and whether the component is a spare or an immediate replacement.
Material conditionExact steel grade, delivered hardness, heat-treatment history where relevant, finish and coating specification.
Critical interfacesDatum faces, fitted dimensions, engagement length, locating features, screw positions, cooling and sealing areas.
Failure evidencePhotographs, worn sample if available, inspection results, resin and filler information, and the observed production issue.
Release criteriaComponent inspection, fitting responsibility, trial requirements, approved product revision and required delivery milestone.

Manufacture, verify and identify

Machining and finishing are planned around the insert’s smallest features and final condition. CNC, EDM, wire cutting and grinding are combined where appropriate. Inspection can include fitted dimensions, form and location, surface condition and specified hardness evidence. Repeat components are identified so dimensional results and future replacements can be traced to the correct drawing and cavity. Agreed identification is placed away from functional surfaces.

Replacement is also an engineering decision

Replacing a component may restore the original tool, but it does not automatically resolve the cause of wear, cracking, flash or sticking. Where needed, we review the surrounding fit, material choice, surface treatment and trial evidence with you. Changes to the approved geometry or material are recorded before manufacture. The delivery plan distinguishes component completion, fitting, trial approval and arrival at your factory.

Can you supply a small quantity or spare set?

Single replacements and small sets can be reviewed. Send the quantity for each drawing, indicate which item is production-critical and identify any shared material or treatment requirements. Sensitive faces are protected separately in packing; the supplied inspection and material documents follow the agreed order scope.
