SILICONE TOOLING
LSR Injection Molds
Liquid silicone rubber molds for small sealing parts and insert-overmolded assemblies, from engineering review to validated samples and tool handover.
Start with the sealing or product function
We support LSR mold design, precision cores and cavities, tool manufacture, fitting and trial molding. The project may be a stand-alone silicone component or a defined sealing region molded onto a compatible plastic or metal insert. A mold can be supplied for your factory or retained for production with us. The intended machine, dosing equipment, insert handling and acceptance method are reviewed before the tool is designed.
Details reviewed before cutting steel
We review the material grade and hardness, minimum cross-sections, gate location, parting line, permitted flash, venting, thermal control and demolding method. For overmolding, define insert positioning, protection of functional surfaces, substrate condition and whether the design depends on bonding, mechanical retention or a combination. Small sealing features must be considered with the mating assembly rather than judged from the isolated silicone model.
| Material definition | Exact LSR grade, hardness, color, application environment and any specified post-molding treatment. |
| Tool specification | Cavity count, runner and gate approach, steel, shut-off details, thermal zones and maintenance access. |
| Machine interface | Receiving press, dosing arrangement, nozzle connection, controls, utilities and part-removal requirements. |
| Insert requirements | Insert drawing, material and surface condition, incoming variation, locating features and protected areas. |
| Acceptance | Dimensional method for flexible parts, flash zones, appearance, retention or sealing test and sample identification. |
Manufacture and trial sequence
The route connects DFM and tool-design approval with machining, inspection, fitting and functional checks. Trials record the tool revision, material, equipment and relevant process conditions. Samples are reviewed for complete formation, flash, handling damage, dimensions and the agreed product function. Corrections are documented and verified at the next trial; a first complete shot is not automatically final acceptance.
Tool-only and production delivery
For exported tooling, define trial records, approved samples, component drawings, spare parts, operating information and packing in the purchase scope. For ongoing molding, define sample approval, batch identification, inspection, any trimming or other secondary operations, assembly and packaging. Automation is evaluated around part stability and verified handling requirements rather than assumed from the mold type.
What supports our silicone-overmolding experience?
Our Type-C connector project connects LSR sealing, reinforced nylon and plated metal components with assembly and tooling/equipment delivery. The application page explains that project’s scope. Its recorded dimensions and process results are not a universal specification for a different seal or material grade.
