PRECISION MOLD COMPONENTS

Precision Mold Cores

Drawing-based core blocks and shaped inserts for new molds, production changes and replacement tooling.

Machined core for a complex molded geometry

Order the core independently or with the complete tool

We manufacture forming cores, core blocks and local core inserts, including the mounting references and fitting surfaces that locate them in the mold. The order may cover a single replacement, a set of repeated cores or matched core-and-cavity components. Conventional, multi-component, insert-molding and micro-feature projects use the same drawing-led approach, with manufacturing and inspection selected for the actual geometry.

Plan machining around the finished condition

CNC machining, EDM, wire cutting, grinding and finishing are combined as required. We review access to deep details, internal corners, slender sections, shut-offs and cooling features before fixing the route. The drawing must distinguish a component supplied for further machining from a heat-treated, polished or coated component ready for fitting. Final dimensions are checked in the agreed finished condition, not assumed from an earlier machining stage.

Specifications that determine feasibility and price

MaterialExact mold-steel designation, supplier requirements, supplied condition, heat treatment and final hardness.
Location and fitMounting datums, mating pockets, fitted faces and the relationship to the cavity, parting line and neighboring inserts.
Forming detailsRibs, bosses, holes, corner radii, shut-offs, draft and areas where a machining or polishing allowance must remain.
SurfaceRoughness where functional; polish or texture reference where cosmetic; surfaces to protect from finishing or coating.
AcceptanceCritical dimensions, geometric tolerances, measurement setup, sample quantity and required inspection records.

Precision where the product needs it

A small critical feature and a large support face rarely need the same tolerance. We separate dimensional size, form, position and surface requirements so the manufacturing plan addresses each one. Tight features are reviewed with their datum system and measurement method. For molded-part requirements, the resin, shrinkage assumptions and trial plan are reviewed separately: a precise steel component alone does not define the tolerance of the molded product.

Inspection, fitting and protected delivery

The agreed checks can include datum dimensions, fitted surfaces, local geometry, hardness and surface condition. Matched components are identified together; sensitive edges, molding surfaces and reference faces are protected during packing. For a complete mold order, the core continues through fitting, assembly and trial validation. For component-only supply, define who performs final fitting and whether the mating parts will be available for checking.

Can you replace a worn core without a current drawing?

A sample and photographs can start the review. We still need to distinguish original nominal geometry from wear, damage and previous repairs. Available assembly drawings, mating dimensions and previous inspection records help establish a controlled replacement specification before manufacture.
