TWO-SHOT / THREE-SHOT / MULTI-COMPONENT

2K & 3K Multi-Component Molding

Different materials, colors or functional regions developed as one tooling and production program.

What you can purchase

Our scope includes precision forming components, complete two-shot and three-shot molds, fitting, trials and molded production. Applications include power-tool housings and handles, battery cases, consumer-electronics housings and other parts combining distinct material regions. You can order a complete tool for your factory, selected tooling components or molded parts with agreed finishing and assembly.

Design the interface first

State the purpose of each material: structure, touch, sealing, color or another function. Provide the exact grades and the boundaries between them. We review geometry, retention or bonding objectives, relative location, surface requirements and the sequence in which the regions are molded. Two different colors do not by themselves establish a robust multi-material design, and a material pairing must be evaluated for the intended processing and use conditions.

Product dataComplete assembly and individual shot-region models, drawing revisions and functional interfaces.
Material regionsGrade, filler, color and finish for each region; bond or retention requirements; permitted alternatives.
Tool conceptCavity layout, process sequence, transfer or indexing approach, locating, shut-offs and service access.
EquipmentReceiving machine configuration, injection units, rotary/index interfaces where relevant, controls and utilities.
ValidationRelative position, flash boundary, appearance, dimensional results and agreed interface/function tests.

Engineering and tooling work

The development scope can include a DFM report, mold-flow review, multi-component mold design, precision cores and cavities, fitting and dimensional inspection. Mold-temperature and filling-balance checks can be defined in the trial plan. A rotary, index or transfer arrangement is selected around the product and actual production equipment; 2K or 3K is not a complete machine or mold specification.

Trial approval and production

Trials identify material, tool revision, cavity and shot sequence so results can be interpreted correctly. Evaluate the first region as well as the final combined part, especially where handling, surface condition or alignment affects the next step. Approved changes are recorded and rechecked. Production may extend to automated take-out, inspection, finishing, assembly and packing, with each included operation defined in the quotation.

What determines the quoted capability?

Geometry, the particular material combination, tool construction, equipment and inspection method determine achievable tolerances and output. We do not apply one bond-strength, cycle-time or positional figure to every multi-component product. Share the critical acceptance conditions and the intended first-sample and production milestones for a useful proposal.
