BUYING TOOLING & MOLDED PARTS

Questions Before a Project Starts

Clear scope, useful technical information and a practical next step.

Can we buy only mold components?

Yes. Cores, cavities, inserts, pins, sleeves, sliders, lifters and other specified tooling parts can be reviewed as independent orders. State whether the required condition is a blank, semi-finished component, ready-to-fit part or matched set. Provide the mating information when final fit is important.

Can you supply a mold for production at our factory?

Yes. Provide the receiving press data, plant tooling standards, approved component systems, utilities, acceptance procedure and handover requirements before design. Export and domestic delivery share the same engineering discipline; the actual equipment and purchase specification determine the interfaces.

Do you make conventional molds, or only micro molds?

Both are within our scope. We support conventional single-material tools, two-shot and three-shot molds, insert/overmolding and separately defined LSR or micro-tooling projects. A difficult precision component demonstrates one capability; the complete mold still requires its own size, structure, equipment and process review.

What tolerance can you guarantee?

The quotation identifies accepted characteristics on the actual drawing, including size, form, position, surface and final condition. Selected micro-feature references are not a tolerance for every surface. Mold-component accuracy, molded-part dimensions and measurement uncertainty are different items. Critical features need a defined datum and inspection method.

What does a 0.6895 mm pin specification mean?

It is a nominal diameter unless limits or a tolerance are also stated. Define the allowable diameter range, measurement length, straightness or other geometric requirements, surface condition and mating component. Likewise, a 0.1 μm positional requirement needs its feature, datum system and verification plan; it is not interchangeable with a pin diameter.

Can you help when the material or design is not fixed?

Yes. Early supplier involvement can start with a sketch, sample or application problem. Describe the function, operating conditions, mating parts and decision you need to make. We review material directions, manufacturability and a useful physical-sample route before a production-tool commitment.

Do you accept one-off or low-volume work?

Single components, trial tools and small batches can be evaluated. There is no universal minimum quantity for every service. Geometry, material, setup, inspection and future demand determine the proposal. State the first-sample need separately from potential repeat orders.

How is delivery time agreed?

Separate engineering approval, first trial, approved samples, production completion and arrival at the destination. Material availability, design changes, tool complexity, required tests and capacity are reviewed before a schedule is committed. A selected fast-track example is not a guaranteed lead time for every project.

Can you include finishing, assembly and packaging?

Yes, within the agreed product scope. Options include suitable mold finishes and coatings, post-molding operations, painting, printing, marking, specified plating, joining, assembly and packing. Substrate compatibility, protected surfaces and finished-part acceptance are defined before processing.

Do we need a completely automated line?

Not necessarily. A fixture, an assisted operation or a single automated workstation may solve the immediate problem. Start with the product, current bottleneck, variants and accepted output. Full-line integration follows validated handling and inspection requirements, not a generic machine-speed target.

What about confidentiality and tooling ownership?

Request an NDA and agree the file-transfer method before sharing confidential drawings. Tool ownership, design files, spares, maintenance and transfer responsibilities belong in the order agreement. Customer-owned tooling and proprietary drawings are not automatically offered for other projects.

How do we send the first inquiry?

Email the product or component name, available drawing information, material, critical requirements, quantity and destination to info@newwaysmart.com. Unknown details may be marked for discussion. The website currently uses email contact; it does not present a public media upload as a private CAD repository.
